Island Activities
We have both recreational kayaks and fishing kayaks at your disposal. Simply let us know you wish to use them and they will be in the water and waiting for you. All feature adjustable padded seats, self bailing scuppers, and carry handles. Or try a motorized guided tour to some great snorkeling spots in the Gladden Spit and Silk Cayes Marine Reserve with a picnic lunch on a deserted island beach.
The Escapade pedal boat’s sleek design and single pedal drive system make moving through the water feel effortless. The Escapade holds the Guinness World Record for fastest crossing of the English Channel.
Our Hobie Wave catamarans are the fastest way to a big smile. Quick and easy to sail on your own! Take one out to explore the Silk Cayes!
Our fresh water swimming pool, with it’s exotic hardwood deck and loungers, is a great place to cool off and soak up some sun. With the bar on one side, beach on the other, and palms growing through the deck, the pool is the focal point of the public spaces.
We provide a full compliment of snorkel gear and the reef around the island is so full of life that many people spend all their underwater time right outside their cabana deck. You can snorkel with your own buddy or join a guided tour of our reefs. Being located so near Gladden Spit, we are right on the doorstep of the largest concentration of Whale Sharks in Belize. A short boat ride puts you in center of the snorkeling and diving action during their migratory stop during full moons in late spring.
Take a luxury trip to anywhere and end the day with a sunset cruise to nowhere.
The smaller boats can whisk you to the Silk Cayes for some underwater exploring and a picnic on the beach of the middle caye. Hatchet Caye is a custom experience tailored specifically to you.
We also offer Scuba diving tours and lessons, deep sea and fly fishing, and deep-tissue massages in your cabana, on the beach, or on our South pier.
On the mainland, wake up early and we can arrange for you to head up the Monkey River for an unforgettable eco adventure. Dash through the mangroves before a leisurely glide up the river with it’s dense, unspoiled, rainforest teeming with birds, the occasional crocodile, and, of course, the Howler Monkeys. You will stop for a short hike through the forest for a lesson in local plants before cruising back down the river for a Belizean lunch in the village. After lunch, there is stop to watch the Manatees and then it’s back to Hatchet Caye in time for a swim before dinner.
